The Tropical Sunrise Pluot season is short with limited quantities of fruit. We were lucky to pick up these tasty Plum and Apricot hybrids at the peak of sweetness from a couple of the South County Farmers' Markets. As they ripen, the fruits' skin changes from yellow to orange to red, and its flavor intensifies. We added Chone Grown Buena Mulata Peppers which lend a deep purple hue to this sauce that is reminiscent of the California Riviera sky at daybreak. The Pluot's juicy flesh coupled with ample Orange County grown Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Peppers impart a tropical aroma. The tannin in the skin of the Tropical Sunrise Pluot adds a unique tartness at first taste. Scorpion Peppers provide a pronounced after burn that lingers on the palate. Chile Negro, a pepper traditionally used in mole, gives this blend a mellow, smooth, and rich finish. Like all of our products, there are no gums, sugars, or extracts.
